Employment Opportunity: Children's Minister


Christ Church Birmingham is seeking our next full-time Children's Minister. The Children's Minister oversees every aspect of ministry with kids from birth through fifth grade in order to help them grow as disciples of Jesus Christ who worship God passionately, connect with the church deeply, and serve sacrificially. Children’s Ministry Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead or equip leaders for weekly Children’s Church during all Sunday morning worship services.

  • Plan and lead Wednesday night Children’s ministry programming

  • Maintain/decorate all Children’s Ministry areas

  • Setup/maintain all media and equipment associated with Children’s Ministry

  • Support Christ Kids Preschool director in planning chapel and Bible activities

  • Coordinate/prep curriculum for nursery; shop for all nursery supplies; plan/maintain all media for nursery

  • Shop for and maintain organization of all needed supplies for Children’s Church

  • Coordinate special children/family events for holidays and church events

  • Maintain Nursing Mom’s Room

  • Counsel and pray with children/families regarding spiritual matters.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employees and volunteers complete background check and screening and train volunteers in child protection policies and procedures

  • Organize training and planning sessions for all workers and volunteers

  • Plan and implement a volunteer appreciation strategy

  • Plan and coordinate Vacation Bible School

  • Organize and work with Children’s Ministry Leadership Team

  • Approve all curriculum, programs, and activities

  • Develop and maintain Children’s Ministry budget

  • Approve disbursements of budgeted

  • Observe, evaluate, and affirm employees and volunteers, noting strengths and areas of improvement

  • Supervise Assistant Director of Children's Ministry

The Children's Minister position is considered a ministerial role and is expected to perform functions that exercise and express the religious character and mission of Christ Church Birmingham. As part of this role, the student minister will be required to adhere to Christ Church Birmingham’s statement of faith in lifestyle and conduct and will be expected to regularly engage in activities in which the employee’s belief in and adherence to Christ Church Birmingham’s statement of faith are an integral part.

 

Compensation commensurate with education and experience.
